AUGUST 29, 2015

Happening right here at the MSI Masters Gaming Arena 2015 at PAX Prime in Seattle, with matches happening non-stop for Heroes of the Storm, we finally have a new champion team!

MVP Black from South Korea has successfully clinched the title of the victor as they played throughout the entire tournament dropping only 1 round against Team Liquid. Fighting through a tough single elimination bracket in this event has seen the teams competing fiercely over the chance to go into the second day, and MVP Black had performed with outstanding results, proving themselves to be at the top of their game. It was no doubt a close game between Tempo Storm and MVP Black to decide who will win the grand prize of $30,000 USD, and the other that leaves with  $12,000 USD.

The top 4 matches of the second day features the top team from Europe, Team Liquid playing against MVP Black, who is the hot favourite to win this event. Although suffering from the loss in the first round, they defeated Team Liquid to receive the qualifying chance for the Grand Finals.

On the other side of the bracket, it was the rivalry between Tempo Storm and Cloud 9, with Tempo Storm having a significant lead over Cloud 9 because of their teamwork that catches out the mistakes made by their opponents and won 2:0.

The 3rd place decider match has been the most anticipated Europe versus North America matchup, with Team Liquid building a poor lineup, Cloud 9 easily secured their victories to most people’s surprises.

MVP Black showcased Korea’s best dual tank, dual supports, with a formidable carry, while Tempo Storm uses a single tank strategy against MVP Black which countered with two tanks. MVP Black ends the event with a 3:0 score to make MSI Masters Gaming Arena’s Heroes of the Storm tournament event end with success.

Game 1
With one of the stronger metagame developed against Western teams, MVP Black played a strong composition of warrior heroes against the lineup from Tempo Storm. Tempo Storm started the game with a one-level lead against MVP Black, with a lineup of ranged mage heroes against the constant aggression from MVP Black. A mistake from Tempo Storm resulted in MVP Black immediately getting a lead of two levels, which continued a long round of dominations until the end where the core for Tempo Storm was successfully destroyed by the 18th minute mark.

Game 2
MVP Black started the game with the drafts of Arthas and Leoric, a formidable lineup against an assembly of heroes from Tempo Storm. The game sustained a long 11 minutes of gameplay from both teams trying to find a weakness to exploit of each other, until a sudden mistake from Tempo Storm was caught out by three of the MVP Black players that gives them an immediate two-level lead. Following that, MVP Black used a aggressive strategy to pursue the destruction of their opponent’s forts, giving them a huge advantage and steamrolling their opponents, resulting in Tempo Storm’s loss in the second round of a Best of 5.

Game 3
With the last chance available for Tempo Storm to secure a victory, Tempo Storm finally makes the decision to ban Leoric against MVP Black in this deciding match. However, MVP Black continues the metagame with a well-thought out strategy against Tempo Storm, with a constant baiting strategy that resulted in Tempo Storm being extremely cautious on the Dragon Shire map. Once the game reached the 12 minute mark, a sudden mistake from MVP Black let Tempo Storm reached similar levels for their heroes, which let Tempo Storm secure a slight advantage while pushing down the forts of MVP Black. The constant to-and-fro metagames between both teams resulted in a bottleneck around the Dragon Knight shrine, with both lanes forcing out neutral creeps to push for a victory against each other.

However, Tempo Storm was caught out in the bottom lane and ended their chances of winning the event, with 2 heroes down, MVP Black secured a final victory and claims the grand prize of $30,000 USD.
